Rising Dublin post-punk band Silverbacks have dropped their new track “Pink Tide” following up from their two previous singles last year “Just In The Band” and “Dunkirk“.
Hailing from Dublin, Silverbacks are a thrilling prospect, delivering their own louche take on NYC-indebted rock. Now a full-fledged five piece after graduating from the bedroom project of songwriting brothers Kilian and Daniel O’Kelly, they ply their trade with as much emphasis on the dry humour running through Daniel’s lyrics as the propulsive, triple guitar-led onslaught in their music.
The track is less intense than the aforementioned tracks but still has an immediacy to it, underpinned by a Joy Division-esque bass line from Emma Hanlon that comes to prominence within the first 20 seconds of the track before Killian’s and Vocalist and Guitarist Daniel O’Kelly‘s dark, witty lyrics take the forefront of the track as he proclaims “Make way for the guards/ They’re nothing to me” showing disdain for the clash of generations that exists in society today.
The track is, again, produced by Girl Band’s Daniel Fox who has helped the band establish a variety of sounds over all the tracks released so far.
Silverbacks’ Daniel O’Kelly explains how the track came to fruition, stating that it started as “another demo, poorly named ‘Mark E. Smith Eats His Purple Crayon’. In the end, we realised that the riff deserved better, and we started writing what eventually became Pink Tide.”.
With a string of 3 catchy tunes and a live buzz surrounding them, their another export of Dublin to keep an eye on this year!
