Press Club announce sophomore album and share dazzling new track “Thinking About You”

Rising Australian punks Press Club have announced the follow up to their phenomenal debut album “Late Teens”. The follow up “Wasted Energy” is due out on August 16th on Hassle Records. To whet our appetite for the big event, they’ve shared new single “Thinking About You”.

Thinking About You” is another mandatory listen. Nat Foster’s vocal delivery and passion are the immediate standout but the band manage to create a sound that is instantly recognisable as them whilst remaining fresh and an evolution to “Late Teens”.

“Thinking About You” details Nat’s experience with a stalker, as she proclaims “You know me well // But I don’t know you at all // I wake up, I wake up // And I start to shit myself”. Whilst obviously being a personal experience it’s a tale that will, unfortunately, resonate with many and that’s one of the draws of the band so far – the songwriting is so strong that it’s easy to connect with them.

A press release for “Wasted Energy” gives us an insight into how the album will be an evolution for the band as it states “In contrast to Late Teens, lyrically, Wasted Energy approaches the microphone through a lens of extrospection. It examines the negative behaviours in the world around us and how we’re all learning to exist in today’s ever-evolving socio-moral landscape. Wasted Energy is broadly about change, and life’s watershed moments that change its course. These shifts are laterally represented lyrically and sonically in many of its songs. Sweeping about-faces and musical departures are an expansion of the musical fibre that make up the Press Club repertoire.”

“Late Teens” was heralded by critics and featured on many “best of” and “ones to watch” lists, for the fans though they’re renowned for their incendiary live shows where the raw energy of the tracks is mirrored in the performance. Press Club are on their way to bigger things and you should catch them at your earliest opportunity as they’re not going to be at intimate venues for much longer.

They head out on a UK Tour throughout August and September, featuring performances at Leeds and Reading Festival. You can catch them at one of the following shows:
