Sir Paul McCartney returns, enticing us with a double A-Side to tease his upcoming 17th Solo Album “Egypt Station” which is due out via Capitol Records on the 7th September.
The tracks follow on from the wonderful “New” which was released in 2015.
The first track “Come On To Me” is a fun, up-beat, catchy tune which continues to show the playful side of the recently turned 76 Year Old.
“I Don’t Know” shows the other side of McCartney’s music, in a similar vein to “Hey Jude”, it’s a more somber, reflective piano based tune as he questions himself “What am I doing wrong? I don’t know/ Now what’s the matter with me?/Am I right? Am I wrong?” all the while whilst still offering his assurances of support “But it’s alright, sleep tight/I will take the strain/Yeah, you’re fine, little love of mine/You will feel no pain”
“Come On To Me” recently got a live airing when McCartney performed a surprise gig in an intimate Liverpool pub whilst filming Carpool Karaoke with James Corden.
McCartney also released a press release for the upcoming album where he stated
“I liked the words. It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make. Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So ,it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
