PAUL HEATON & JACQUI ABBOTT ON COURSE FOR NUMBER 1 ALBUM

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott

Former The Beautiful South members, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, released their fourth album as a duo this week.

The Official Charts Company have confirmed that “Manchester Calling” is set to become the pair’s first No1 album. It’s currently looking likely to knock Lewis Capaldi from the top spot and is selling twice as many copies as the runner up, Deacon Blue.

Paul & Jacqui’s previous 3 albums have all made the top 5 (peaking at numbers 3, 4 and 2) and they have built up a huge live following. They are embarking on a sold out arena tour later this month and headlining Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl in the Summer.

This will be the first time either of them have topped the chart since The Beautiful South‘s “Quench” back in 1998!

Their live shows take in tracks from across Heaton’s songwriting career including plenty of The Beautiful South and The Housemartins songs. The well-received gigs over the past 6 years have firmly established Paul & Jacqui as a bonafide arena act in their own right.

Manchester Calling” is available to buy now.
