Kings of Leon released their 9th studio album, “Can We Please Have Fun”, this week. Their previous 6 albums all went straight to Number 1 in the UK and there was an expectation that this would do the same.
It’s been leading the charge all week but yesterday Taylor Swift‘s “The Tortured Poets Department” pulled ahead of them. Taylor is now almost 2,000 sales ahead of Kings of Leon and significantly outperforming the band on streaming services.
Today is the final day for sales to count towards the UK chart. Tomorrow we will find out if Kings of Leon score their 7th Number 1 album in a row or if the new album becomes their first to not make Number 1 since 2005’s “Aha Shake Heartbreak”.
