Frank Turner and his band The Sleeping Souls are one of the most reliable, exciting and just generally fun live acts around. A Frank Turner concert is a special one, and one of those artists you need to see live to properly understand what makes him special.
This time, he returns to Bristol o2 Academy for his 2160th live show.
And what a show it was – opening the setlist with the excellent brand new track “1933” of the forthcoming album “Be More Kind” helped to showcase how passionate and special Frank Turner fans are as they were already screaming the words back to him.
The setlist covered some of Turner’s biggest hits, including “Get Better”, “Recovery”, “The Ballad of Me and My Friends” with a handful of new tracks mixed in and a rare full band performance of “Imperfect Tense” and The Sleeping Souls were on fine form as always.
Whilst you always know what you’re getting with a Frank Turner show (a guaranteed good time), there were some nice surprises, such as Frank joining the crowd to find a dance partner for “Four Simple Words” and ending on the “Songbook” version of “Polaroid Picture”.
Spoiler: If you didn’t know already, our name comes from a Frank Turner track…
