ALBUM OF THE WEEK: RUN THE JEWELS – ‘RTJ 4’

Following the murder of George Floyd, Run The Jewels‘ fourth album couldn’t feel more appropriately timed. The fact that it was written and recorded some time ago and always scheduled for release next week just emphasises that these horrific incidents are not new and not uncommon.

Just like the 3 previous records, ‘RTJ4’ is politically-charged. It’s angry but hopeful. The songwriting is stronger than ever, they’ve dialed down some of the silliness peppered throughout the other records and turned up volume on racism, injustice and those watching from the sidelines.

It’s a remarkable hip hop record that will be spoken about as a classic in years to come. You might recognise ‘Ooh La La’ from Ozark, check it out below.
