It’s a bit thin on the ground for new records this week so we’re awarding Album of the Week to one of the brilliant records from last week.
‘Sawayama‘ is the debut album from the Japanese-British singer/songwriter. Some of her early releases have been listenable but not particularly exciting. This album, however, is such an exciting and intelligent, genre-hopping project. If Lady Gaga made a record with Sophie and Marilyn Manson then it might almost sound like this.
