ALBUM OF THE WEEK: FIONA APPLE – ‘FETCH THE BOLT CUTTERS’

Fionna Apple Album Artwork

Fiona Apple is one of the most critically-acclaimed singer/songwriters and she certainly takes her time between releases. Almost 25 years since her incredible debut, ‘Tidal’, this is still only her 5th album. It’s also been 8 years since her last album ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do‘.

The title of her new record is certainly snappier than the last. The content, however, hits much harder than anything she’s done before. It’s an unconventional, unrestrained, powerful masterpiece.

Like Laura Marling’s album last week, this is a digital only release for now due to the ongoing pandemic. A lot of alternative music fans are slow to embrace streaming, preferring to wait for the physical product, but if ever there was a record to make you set aside your purist ways then this it. Check out the title track below.
