Manchester’s new 23,000 capacity arena, Co-Op Live, has been plagued with technical difficulties forcing last minute show cancellations. Olivia Rodrigo, Take That and The Black Keys are among the artists scheduled to play at the arena who were forced to reschedule or cancel shows. US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie‘s show was cancelled as the doors were due to open, leaving thousands of disappointed people in the queue outside. Reports circulating on social media suggested that an air conditioning unit had fallen from the ceiling just before the venue was about to open.
Manchester’s own Elbow are scheduled to play the venue tonight and that show is so far scheduled to proceed. If the gig does go ahead then the local lads will become the first act to officially open the venue instead of comedian Peter Kay who was originally supposed to open it last month.
Elbow are currently touring their impressive new record, “Audio Vertigo”, which became their fourth UK Number 1 album in March this year. The LP returned them to the top spot after 2021’s more subdued release, “Flying Dream 1″, peaked at Number 7.
