NEWS: Taylor Swift and Pet Shop Boys in head-to-head albums chart race

It’s hard to believe that Pet Shop Boys have only had one UK Number 1 album, 1993’s “Very”. They are after their second chart-topper this week with their fifteenth studio album, “Nonetheless”. It is undoubtedly the duo’s strongest album in years but it looks like they may be blocked from the top spot by Taylor Swift who is aiming for a second week in pole position with “The Tortured Poets Department”

Both albums are selling very well and, as of yesterday, there were only around 1,000 sales between the two.

The Zutons, St. Vincent and Jess Glynne also look set to enter the top 10 with their new albums. For The Zutons, it’s their first album in 16 years and they are on track to beat the Number 6 peak of their last record (“You Can Do Anything”). By contrast, both of Jess Glynne’s previous albums easily sailed to Number 1 but her comeback LP “Jess” is looking likely to miss the top five.
