ALBUM OF THE WEEK: HINDS – ‘THE PRETTIEST CURSE’

Hinds’ third album is another record delayed by the pandemic. The t-shirts in the bundle available on their website have the original April release date printed on them. Their instore shows and upcoming European tour have been scrapped and they’ve decided to abandon planned promotion so as not to detract from the Black Lives Matter movement.

It’s a slicker, more-polished record than its predecessors but hasn’t lost the playfulness or ferociousness of those beautifully noisy albums. It’s a bigger sound and clearly a pop record which will be more palatable to those who found the first 2 a bit too messy without alienating those who fell in love with the Spanish indie band’s unique sound.

You can watch the video for one of the singles, ‘Good Times Bad Times’ below.
