Not content with just one of the best albums of the year, Big Thief have announced they are going to be releasing a second album in 2019 and have shared “Forgotten Eyes” to whet our appetites.
Following on from “UFOF”, which was released in May, Big Thief announced last month that they would be sending a second album in 2019 called “Two Hands”. Alongside the announcement they put the excellent “Not” out into the wild. Now, they’ve put the incredible “Forgotten Eyes” out and it’s becoming more apparent that 2019 is going to be Big Thief’s year. The beautiful and introspective track which asks the listener to take note of and love those that others may have forgotten.
“Two Hands” is described as the “earth twin” of “UFOF” with Adrianne Lenker commenting on how the two albums are intrinsically linked but also stand up as two separate entities:
“U.F.O.F. is meant to be more focused on the immeasurable, sort of suspended ethereal playing with textures and colours and layering in the production, staring into the abyss. And Two Hands is more the micro, zooming into the blood and tissue and guts of being a human, the raw, bare, naked bones, not much layering, capturing just our performances in the room, just very dry, no reverbs, just skin and flesh and human, finite, physical. But I think each of them contains parts of the others.”
“Two Hands” is due out on 11 October via 4AD with the following tracklisting:
1. Rock And Sing
2. Forgotten Eyes
3. The Toy
4. Two Hands
5. Those Girls
6. Shoulders
7. Not
8. Wolf
9. Replaced
10. Cut My Hair
